Hold Me Closer, Necromancer - Lisa McBride

Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lisa McBride
Since dropping out of college, Sam's been working at a local burger joint with his best friend Ramon. The two are also friends with Brooke and Larry, the new guy. Sam's life is very ordinary, that all changes after he accidentally breaks a car taillight while playing potato hockey.

The car's owner Douglas is a necromancer. Sam is unaware he is also a necromancer, Douglas knows and he doesn't like competition. Sam and his friends are struggling to understand what's going on, especially after Douglas sends a very violent message.

I am making this sound darker it is. I probably should've started by saying, this is very funny. The author does an excellent job of balancing the action and the humor. I loved the characters and the dialogue. The story moves at a great pace. Set in Seattle, McBride takes the time to visually paint a picture of city. Thankfully this looks like the first book in a series. I am looking forward to seeing all of these characters again.
