Amelia to Zora Cynthia Chin- Lee Megan Halsey Sean Addy

Amelia to Zora: Twenty-Six Women Who Changed the World by Cynthia Chin-Lee illus. by Megan Halsey, and Sean Addy

This is a wonderful introduction to 26 women who broke barriers. The women included are very diverse as are their accomplishments. There are activists, artists, scientists, and politicians. Chin - Lee included many women who don't get that much attention. A few of the women featured Cecilia Payne Gaposchkin, an astronomer and the first female professor at Harvard University. Nawal El Sadaawi a doctor and fighter for woman's rights. Grace Hopper inventor and computer pioneer. Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit -an Indian diplomat and the first woman president of the United Nations.

The biographies are concise, each line containing a new fact. Halsey and Addy's beautiful and warm illustrations will help keep young readers attention. ages 6up
