I'll probably get it from the library.

I do really like the cover of Charlie Ann and I completely agree if the author is able to revive an old plotline, I'm happy :)MissAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11042352415616854651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6482156857828868888.post-78449935420079471892010-08-12T20:44:00.723-04:002010-08-12T20:44:00.723-04:00As usual you do great things for the community wit...As usual you do great things for the community with your lists! I think it is that artist in my dying to get out (even though I can't draw a stick figure)

We are big fans of the Keena Ford books (my 5yr old and me)I've been waiting to get my hands on Ninth Ward and do love the cover with the boy in the grass. From the l...Ari - I thought you'd like Plus.

From the looks of the cover I think so. If so its nice to see another contemporary YA book with a teen of color that has nothing to do with race.

And as far as I know Chambers as only had kids of color as main characters.

I understand about being tired of befriending the only Black person in town plotline.

Though, I still want to check out The Wonder of Charlie Ann, there is something about the cover I like.

Sometimes, I am okay with an author exploring an already established plotline as long as they bring it with their writing. Usually, I know by the first few pages.Dorethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08676911030014718403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6482156857828868888.post-51337163304435150082010-08-10T12:59:17.371-04:002010-08-10T12:59:17.371-04:00Ok I haven't figured it out yet, is the girl i...Ok I haven't figured it out yet, is the girl in Plus a PoC? Veronica Chambers is Panamanian and I would totally buy the book if the main character was Panmanian. haha. But it does sound like a good read.

The wonder of Charlie Ann reminds me of a lot of other MG books about the one white girl in town who befriends a Black kid in town and doesn't understand why people have a problem with this. They are good stories but I'm starting to get tired of that plotline.

A Girl Named Mister sounds really good. And of course Ninth Ward sounds amazing.

I cosign heartedly the awesomeness that is Devil's Kiss and The Agency series!

I'm currently reading White Crane. I like it so far. It's funny and there's some action.
